After surviving the night in sketchville, we aimed for Portage la Prairie, Home of the Miller Camp Resort we visited on our way out west.
Like bats out of hell, we raced across 3 provinces looking forward to a nice relaxing break after a hectic few.
We had every intention of visiting Rouleau, Saskatchewan (25kms off the Trans-Canada), also known as home to Corner Gas, because I had read that it was quite the display.
However, with some research, we discovered that the set and remnants were but a shell of the attraction it represented.
So we blew it off, and went straight on.
The drive was relatively uneventful, other than a few deer and prairie dog sightings.
I mean, it’s the prairies after all.
We arrived in Portage la Prairie, hoping to restock for our final stretch, only to be disappointed that everything was closed early due to the holiday.
However, we managed to get to the campsite in time to set up and have a fire, faced with the decision of whether we stay the next day.
Plus we needed to test our questionable air mattress.
We needed some downtime and at the cheap rates offered by Miller’s, it was a good decision.
We are now faced with the prospect of 25+ hours worth of driving to home.
Do we break it down to 3 days, stretching the budget, or do we gun it home?
Help us get home! Pretty please!!
