After a solid 2 hour sleep in the van at a rest stop, we were amped to get to our next major destination. My cousins house in Chilliwack, BC.

The drive was fun, shooting down 19km grades so steep that they had runaway lanes for trucks that might lose their braking. Very reassuring.

After stopping in a town called Hope (ironically we were hoping we wouldn’t die as I nodded off on those same grades), we eventually made it to the door of my cousin Wendy, her hubby Matthew and their awesome kids Rachel, Brooke, and Michael.

Such an awesome greeting!

I presented Wendy with an artistic gift to her, my acrylic painting “Moonlit Passage” and our two latest books Stanley the Leaf Pile and The Golden Circle Commando Fairies and the Battle for Dreams.

It was also a wonderful reunion as Wendy and I hadn’t seen each other in about 30 years (except for a short visit for Grammas funeral). I also met her awesome husband and her three brilliant kids for the first time.

We quickly learned that British Columbia and the people here, starting with my extended family, were beautiful, wonderful people.

Ainsley was also very excited to see many Asians.

After a quick shopping trip to Wal-Mart and the liquor store to restock we came home and had supper. My cousin Wendy makes amazing enchiladas (excuse the mess on my plate, Smelvin isn’t good at presentation).

After a great evening of catching up, we were ready for some sleep.

Notes:

  1. No matter how long I’ve been looking at the mountains the last two days, I’m still in awe.
  2. No matter the distance or time, it seems like my cousins never miss a second.
